"My role as a family Physician is to help my patients get well and to stay well. I feel that providing prevention-related examinations and information is as important as treating your immediate health care needs. I believe that encouraging individuals to pursue a healthy lifestyle will result in better health for the entire family."
"My family has many generations of physicians. When it came time to choose my career path, it seemed natural to go into the field of medicine. Family Practice especially stood out to me because it would allow me to use every aspect of my broad education and experience. I enjoy the challenge of seeing patients of all ages and variety that Family Practice offers. One of the most enjoyable aspects of my job is the privilege of caring for patients and their families over time. It is that trust that makes my career meaningful.
It is my goal to keep informed of the latest medical knowledge so that I can focus on the quality of your healthcare above all else. "
"I enjoy time with my family and am eager to get to know yours. Practicing Family Medicine and delivering babies for the past 14 years gave me the chance to watch children grow and develop, along with their parents and grandparents. What a privilege to be the doctor for an entire family! Knowing the context of an individual's life helps me anticipate problems and create personal, practical solutions for my patients. My mission is to provide quality, up to date, genuine, and personal care. I am a father of four, awaiting two more through international adoption. A graduate of Edina High School, St. Olaf College, and the University of Minnesota Medical School, I have returned to work in the community where I live and play."
Dr. Charles Ledder has lived in the Edina community all of his life. He went to school in the Edina school district from Kindergartern through high school and then continued his education at the University of Minnesota. There he completed his undergraduate degree, attended medical school, and completed his residency. Because of his background, Dr. Ledder feels as if he has a strong understanding of the community's values and incorporates these into his practice.
Dr. Ledder has been practicing medicine for the last twenty years. He chose the health field because of its ability to help people with their physical and mental health. He derives great satisfaction from helping our patients to improve their lives. Furthermore, medicine is constnatly changing making it both interesting and intellectually stimulating. Family practice was an obvious career choice because of its variety and complexity.
In order for treatment to be effective, patients and provicers must have a partnership role; they have to work together and communicate to provide the best care. Treatment cannot be one sided. Dr. Ledder also enjoys patients who are punctual. This allows him to be on time for other patients who also have time commitments.
Dr. Ledder has great respect for our patients and their families. His focus is on providing patients with high quality care by embracing the latest medical technology and knowledge. He values being the preferred family practice clinid for patients in the Edina and surrounding communities.
"Dr. David Nelson loves family medicine. He enjoys working with families and sees the family unit as an extension of a person's health. A family's health affects the individual, and vice versa. His goal is to provide the best care to individuals and their families. Being a part of an independent, private group gives him the flexibility to do what is best for his patients.
Areas of particular interest to Dr. Nelson include diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and the atopic conditions of asthma and allergies. While in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Nelson underwent additional allergy training and provided allergy care including skin testing, allergy shots, and asthma care.
Dr. Nelson feels it is important to be involved and serve the community. He grew up in Edina and attended the public schools from kindergarten through high school. He served in the United States Air Force as a family physician and flight surgeon and continues to serve in the Minnesota Air National Guard as a flight surgeon. He is also adjunct faculty at the University of Minnesota Department of Family Medicine.
Dr. Michael Pane views his role as a point of service for his patients' medical care. To him, a good family practitioner is one that is able to grasp a broad range of medical problems, while realizing limitations in their ability to prvide care for complex conditions. His philosophy is to use specialists when appropriate.
Medicine became a career choice because of its opportunity to serve the public. He enjoys teaching people about their health, having responsibility, and using his time and knowledge to benefit others. Dr. Pane attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and received his undergraduate degree in physics. He then went on to attend medical school and trained at the University of Nebraska Department of Family Practice.
Dr. Pane strives to maintain France Avenue Family Physicians independence as a family practice clinic. He values its ability to provide personalized, compassionate, quality driven care. Each patient at France Avenue Family Physicians will receive the care they deserve.
"As a Physician Assistant in family practice, my goal is to provide high quality care to patients of all ages. I believe that comprehensive preventative care is extremely important to maintain an individual and family's health. For this reason, I have a special interest in women's health, adolescent medicine, and patient education.
As a Minnesota native, I am excited to contribute to it's health care system as a mid-level provider. I plan to utilize my strenghts as an enthusiastic teacher and learner to work alongside the physicians and other staff at France Avenue Family Physicians. Through communication, I hope to promote a relationship of honesty and confidence between patients and myself."
"I chose to enter the medical field because I enjoy serving and connecting with others. The opportunity to build warm, trusting relationships with patients and their families is the joy of family medicine. As a PA, I provide current, quality care driven by empathy, compassion, and honesty. It is important for me to treat the whole individual: physical, emotional, and spiritual health. I listen carefully to my patients' concerns and partner with them to make educated decisions about their treatment options. My goal is to encourage and empower my patients to live healthier lives."
Suzanne ("Suzy") Runkel, our Physician Assistant has been with France Avenue Family Physicians since 2003. Her goal in practicing medicine is to provide the highest quality health care to a wide variety of patients, while at the same time placing emphasis on patient education and understanding. She desires patients to feel empowered to take steps necessary to modify their lifestyles and prevent future illnesses and harm of their health. She values staying abreast of developments in medicine to provide the best care to her patients.
A medical mission to Honduras inspired Suzy to practice medicine. There, she was able to see and appreciate the benefit medicine plays in a person's life. In addition, her passion for people and education added to her underlying desire to play a role in improving health. She found medicine to be the bet fit for her and her career path. She has since returned to Honduras as part of medical missions twice, and hopes to continue serving there in the future.
Suzy's strengths make her a vital part of France Avenue Family Physicians. She uses her empathy, honesty, and responsibility to understand each patient's situation. She values her patient's right to privacy and will uphold confidentiality with every encounter.
In a clinic, there is only so much a provider can do to help in the healing process; the rest is up to the patient. Keeping this in mind, she expects patients to ask questions and also inform her when certain treatment methods are not working. She will work hard to give patients the "tools" they need to manage their health, and in turn , hopes that patients leave with an understanding of how to work towards a healthier lifestyle.
France Avenue Family Physicians exists to provide our patients with high quality, compassionate care that is centered on patient choice, education, and participation in medical decisions. Our patients will be served by a diversity of providers and services, a highly trained staff, and the latest in medical technology. Our staff will respect the dignity of our patients and we will embrace advances in learning and technology, in an effort to achieve efficient and quality driven outcomes in patient care.
